Our Commitment

  • UME complies with Egyptian Labor Law No. 12 (2003), relevant maritime labor conventions (MLC 2006), and, where applicable, UK Modern Slavery Act (2015) and EU human rights directives.
  • We recognize that the shipping and logistics industry faces risks related to labor exploitation, and we take proactive steps to mitigate these risks.

Key Measures

  • Supplier & Partner Screening – All suppliers and subcontractors are required to confirm compliance with labor rights and anti-slavery laws.
  • Code of Conduct – UME’s Code of Conduct strictly prohibits forced labor, child labor, and exploitative practices.
  • Whistleblowing Mechanism – Any individual may report concerns related to labor exploitation through UME’s whistleblower channels.
  • Training & Awareness – UME employees and contractors are trained to recognize risks of modern slavery and report concerns.
  • Continuous Improvement – We conduct regular reviews of labor practices within our operations and supply chain.
