2000
The Beginnings
United Marine Egypt was founded in Egypt as a local shipping company with global ambitions laying the foundation for what would become UME Shipping.

2013
First RoRo Service
UME Shipping launches its first roll-on/roll-off liner service from Safaga using chartered RoRo vessels, marking its entry into scheduled liner operations.

2014
Going Global
- UME Shipping AB is established in Stockholm, Sweden
- UME Shipping L.L.C. opens in Dubai, UAE
- First Panamax bulk carriers are chartered
- Stockholm office focuses on dry bulk operations

2015
Growing Our Fleet
UME acquires M/V Poseidon Express, placing it into Red Sea liner service and enhancing capacity. With its added passenger accommodation, the vessel also helped optimize truck and trailer logistics across the region.

2017
Fleet Strengthens
M/V Duba Bridge is purchased and fully refurbished at Port of Suez drydock, reinforcing our liner fleet.

2018
Expanding Across the Mediterranean
Following its upgrade, M/V Duba Bridge begins Mediterranean trading, supporting UME’s regional expansion.

2019
Strengthening Red Sea Operations
UME adds M/V Elgouna Trader to its Red Sea liner service, continuing to build operational resilience.

2020
Gubal Trader joins the fleet
M/V Gubal Trader (formerly Gute) joins our fleet, acquired and delivered from Rederi AB Gotland.

2021
Wasa Express joins the fleet
M/V WASA EXPRESS is purchased from Wasa Line and will be delivered to UME.

2023
New Horizons in Tankers
UME enters the tanker market, becoming a partner and disponent owner of M/T London Star, operating within the Maersk Tanker Pool.

2024
UME charts course toward zero emissions
UME becomes the first delivery customer for REGENT Craft’s 100-passenger Monarch Seaglider. These all-electric hydrofoiling wing-in-ground (WIG) vessels combine the speed of aircraft with the convenience and low cost of boats — all with zero emissions. Operating in ground effect within one wingspan of the water, they achieve exceptional aerodynamic efficiency, enabling greater range on a single charge.

Expansion into Dry Bulk
UME orders two Ultramax Bulk Carriers from SUMEC New Dayang Shipyard

Alcudia Express joins the fleet
